Description
In National Geographic style, this oversize volume traces in narrative and lavish color images and maps historic paths of discovery. Beginning with the migration of Homo Erectus out of Africa, peripatetic historian Novaresto follows Alexander the Great's epic trans-Asian military expeditions and Lewis and Clark's Northwest Passage-seeking quest, to the more recent flag-raising adventures on Mt. Everest by Edmund Hillary and on the moon by Neil Armstrong. Except for Corps of Discovery Indian guide Sacajawea, women are noted only as place names or voyage-financing Queen Isabella; at least they did not meet the fate of Captain Cook. 10x14" Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
